Product Review: Gloves, Batman Returns Catwoman

Before we begin I would like to clarify that the reason I am not doing a video review of these gloves is because:

a) I do not have enough time to make a video review of every single piece of the cosplay I am compiling.

b) I do not have enough points to make that would warrant a video review.

Today I am reviewing the 4-way stretch vinyl gloves sold by AmaZonaFashion on Etsy, which cost $44.00 (not including shipping). So if you’re in the market looking for a good pair of latex gloves, you have come to the right place! Let’s get started!

After my previous experience with latex gloves, I found that going with a cheaper set is not ideal if you can spare a little more money for a better fit. Most cheap latex gloves you will find on the market today are a one-size deal, which means that the hand size will hover between a size small through extra large. In my experience, the gloves that I purchased before were loose on the fingers, arms, and palm part.

Since this new Catwoman project I’m working on is a more expensive build, getting a good pair of gloves that fit right the first time was a must.

Over the course of a few months, I have been referencing Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman and studying cosplayers who have done their own interpretations of the character, and I’ve found gloves are one of the things that are commonly the most difficult to get right.

When you look at Selina’s gloves, there are few things about them that make them unique. First off, they hug the forearm. Second, they end a little before the elbow.  While the second element of these gloves is not necessarily hard to find online, definitely finding a pair of gloves that fit well is the hardest part if you are not making your own.

By following AmaZonaFashion’s glove measurement chart (and measuring thrice to make sure I got a consistent measurement) I was able to find that I was a size small by their company’s standards. As these gloves were made-to-order, it did take a little while longer to ship, but it was well worth the wait.

“Fits like a glove” is not just a saying this time. These gloves fit nicely against my skin, and—as you can see—they conform to my fingers appropriately and reveal the dimensions of my wrist and forearm without being potentially so tight that moving comfortably is impossible.

I have also been able to test out these gloves multiple times with the thimble claws I made, and the fingertips are just thick enough that they help cushion the metal. Once I being the adherence process, this will be helpful, since a little cushion between my fingers and the metal will help to keep my fingers from getting sore.

These gloves also allow for a little stretch. When I tried these gloves on with my catsuit I found they weren’t much tighter around my arms. As you can see from the picture, there is still an accommodating enough gap if you plan to tuck catsuit sleeves under these gloves.

I really like these gloves and can’t really find a complaint against them. They fit very well and AmaZonaFashion’s customer service was great! With any made-to-order item I would recommend making your order early, as there’s always a chance that the seller could be swamped and may not be able to make the convention date if you wait last second to do so.

So if you’re looking for a good pair of gloves for your Catwoman cosplay, pop on over to AmaZonaFashion on Etsy. You will not regret your purchase!
